Τσιμπόγλου, Φίλιππος Χ.
Filippos Tsimpoglou has a PhD in Librarianship and Information Science from the Ionian University and a BSc in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business.
From 1983 to 1999 he worked at the National Documentation Centre of Greece, implementing a national information system by developing such projects as the National Interlibrary Lending Network, the repository of Greek PhD dissertations and the Archaeological Greek Online System.
From 1999 to 2014 he was the Director of the Library and an ex-officio member of the Senate of the University of Cyprus, where his tasks included the development of new information services and the forging of strategic alliances; he also inspired the creation of the Cyprus Libraries Consortium.
Since 2014 he has been the Director General of the National Library of Greece, charged with the preparation and transition of the collections and services of the NLG to its new premises at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. His responsibilities include the organisation of the ‘idle services’ of a classical national library, the planning and development of infrastructure and services in order for the NLG to address successfully the challenges of the digital era and the creation of a series of innovative services of a public library within the NLG, acting as a standard for the Greek National Network of Libraries.
His thesis, "Collaborations between Libraries: A Systemic Approach", was published in 2008 (in Greek), and he is the author of numerous papers.
