From physics to everydayness

How do we perceive reality? How do we
translate opposites, complementary things
and feelings? Everything is inside us … as it
is outside …so it is in our discourse, words
reveal duality and complementarity too.
As Albert Einstein wrote: "It seems as though
we must use sometimes the one theory and
sometimes the other, while at times we may
use either.” We are faced with a new kind of
difficulty. We have two contradictory pictures
of reality; separately neither of them fully
explains the phenomena of light, but together
they do. Duality and complementarity in the
Universe.
What is the complementary of light?
Darkness…
This describes the wave nature of
everydayness from darkness to light. Niels
Bohr regarded the "duality paradox" as a
- 6 -
fundamental or metaphysical fact of nature.
The notions of cooperative interaction, selforganization
and autonomy, in brief what we
call holistic notions, are relevant and basic to
the study of natural systems. “That” and
“this”, “environment” and “system”, “us” and
“them”… we always make distinctions. We
distinct ourselves from our environment, from
others, from what happens to what we feel
and sense… Everyone can define oneself as a
system, distinctions made reveal also the
cognitive capabilities of the distinctor, it is in
this way that biological and social structures
exhibit their coherence and make us aware
that they in fact have cognitive capacities or
that they are “conscious” … the system
requires also an “observer” internally and
externally…. We observe life, we describe it in
many forms… we live it in many ways…
Explore duality, complementarity and focus
as an “observer” on your own view of life… as
well as that of others… never be afraid of
being “different” because there is always
- 7 -
someone or something to complement you!
Be open and let life complete the parts
missing, nature talks wisely…
